Old But With G At The Front! Reminicing The Old Days With These Nostalgic Movie!

Spending your leisure time by being a couch potato all day is a form of therapy. Here are some AMAZING movies for you to reminisce the good old days!

The next lazy Saturday you have, why not take a stroll down memory lane?

There are a bunch of talented Malaysians in the film industry and it was awfully hard for me to choose my top 5 most iconic movies. So, here it goes.

1. Pendekar Bujang Lapok

Do you guys still remember that scene where it go~

hai mambang biru mambang kuning mambang angin mambang laut…

.. mambang mabok minum brandy – filem Pendekar Bujang Lapok

Fun fact about this film is that it was filmed on site at Jalan Ampas, Singapore.

This movie was so popular that there were several sequels Ali Baba Bujang Lapok and ending with Seniman Bujang Lapok.

It’s so good I just need to drop another quote from the Seniman Bujang Lapok sequel!

wei ramlee, sapa kau??

aku lah king

king apa?

king kong?

king kong kepala ***** kau! – filem Seniman Bujang Lapok

2. Sepet

Still remember this?

Wahh…so fair ahhh. Some more the nose also so sharp. But sorry to say ahh..the eyes ahh..a bit the Sepet!

Another gem I’m listing out today is Sepet by Yasmin Ahmad. If you love Sharifah Amani, you’ll remember how much you loved the movie and all the casts.

Sepet was THAT movie which makes me stay silent in front of the television after the end of the movie. It’s so heavy yet so heartwarming in its own way.

3. Mukhsin

I still remember watching this when I was a child and understanding how hard it is to fall in love with your own best friend. I could honestly talk all day about the movie.

A film about first love story might sound cliché but never when the film is directed by the one and only Yasmin Ahmad!

4. Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam

The real ones will remember how terrifying Maya Karin was in this horror movie. This movie was the start of me being a real chicken.

The scenes that I will never forget is when Maya Karin as Pontianak change into this vengeful and terrifying woman vampire and when the mirror was blow at the climax. As a child, that was scarrrrrryyyyy!

5. Gol & Gincu

Every girl in Malaysia that born in the ‘90s must have watch this movie at least 1 time!

A realistic movie that portrays teenager obsession of wanting to be known and popular in college. Dramatic, with a pinch of excitement of all the incredible actors and actresses.

The movie was so good till they decided to release a second volume in 2018! To be honest, the second volume is mehhh, and could never compete with the first volume!

6. Maria Mariana

Oh my god! This film is so relatable with the issue of a troublesome yet rebellious teenager but at the same time reveals that love can change anything.

Me as a teenager back then when the film release, feels so emotional with the film!

7. Sembilu

ICONIC! At the time, everybody wants Awie as their boyfriend or husband!

Plus, the film feature 3 big name in Malaysia film industry which is Awie, Ziana Zain and Erra Fazira that promise a great success!

The film was released on 18 August 1994 and successfully grossed RM4.2 million. Amazeeeeballlls!

Writing this article made me excited and miss all the good vibes we had when we watched all the old movies. I’ll for sure binge watch all these for no reason at all.

Let’s go!
