The Perfect Smudge-Proof Lewk! 6 Steps To Get Rid of The ‘Leftover’ Makeup On Your Mask!

It’s the season where our makeup is MIA. Now you see it, the next hours you don’t. Yes, ladies- I’m talking about makeup residue transferred onto our face mask.

Let’s be honest, it gets annoying when it happens right? But the good side of it proves that you’re just doing your job as a responsible Malaysian to flatten the curve. Yes! We listen, not like poli… oopppsss!

Well, worry not because I got your back! I’m here today to turn your MIA makeup into the perfect smudge-proof look throughout the day- even if you’re sweating a lot under the mask.

1. Slow Down On The Amount of Makeup!

The main key is to reduce the amount of makeup that you’re putting on your face. The more you put, the messier it gets! Plus, all the bacteria, heat, and oil that accumulates under the mask will make your skin worse- thus resulting in a breakout.

Let your skin breathe and use the ‘Less Is More’ approach when dolling up. Your skin will thank you!

2. Prep your skin.

Always, always, always prep your skin before applying any makeup by wearing the perfect moisturizer and sunscreen. But don’t go overboard on the products as it can result in ‘cakey or separate look’.

All the excess products might just sit on top instead of absorbed in your skin. The last thing we want is by looking like a melting ice cream yikes!

3. Choose The Right Primer

There’s a lot of primers that existed in the makeup industry and it’s hard to choose the perfect one for you. It’s best to know what type of skin condition that you have first- do you have oily, acne-prone, or dry skin?

If you have normal skin and desired for a dramatic makeup look, it is best to use a silicon-based primer such as Sephora Collection Beauty Amplifier Smoothing Primer.

If you are more on the dry type of skin use something that can hydrate your skin; Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer.

Someone with oily or acne-prone skin should wear an oil-free primer based like Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.

4. Use Liquid Products.

We want to make sure your skin stays hydrated and that is by using a minimal amount of powder-based products. So, if you are a fan of blusher, it is better to use a liquid one because the lightweight texture and finish will make it smudge-proof.

The same goes for lipstick, use a liquid lipstick to make it last longer, and most importantly it is more comfortable on your lips!

5. Powder Up!

Don’t skip this step because it’s very crucial in making sure that your makeup stays in place. Set your makeup by powder up!

As long as you don’t go crazy with the amount of powder that you put on your face, it will do the work. Any oils or excess products will be absorbed by the setting powder. Oh and don’t forget to set your lips too!

6. Lock it and Don’t Forget it!

Some people tend to skip the legendary setting spray, but just don’t. For your information, there’s an ingredient in the product that will lock and hold your makeup called a polymer. Yasss! Now you know!

Hold the setting spray an inch or two away from your face, and sprits like it’s the end of the world, and voila! Your look is now complete.
